Starting to Feel Like Home, 5/29/2012

We had our first "off-the-mountain" guests this past weekend, when our niece Lacy & her fiance John came to visit and stayed for supper along with Aunt Eve & Uncle Hoot.  It was good to see them both & great to finally meet John.

We had our first overnight guest when our granddaughter Destiny came to spend the night Saturday night.  She was a pretty good helper too.

It's starting to feel and look like home.  The laundry/utility room is all put together, so the washer/dryer has been getting a workout the last few days.   There were a few added "special touches" by Lee:

Kitchen is getting put together:

Dining room.  We're still looking for that perfect dining table, but this old one works for now:

Destiny stayed in the guest room:

She even wiped down the "toy tubs" and test-played the Barbies while she was here:

and we did get to sleep in our own bed the night after Mother's Day:

It is getting there and really feeling like HOME.

5/20/2012 -- Moving In!

The house was ready to move into by Mother's Day.  Yay!  However, we did give up the king-sized bed to our oldest daughter and her two of our grandkids.  The full-sized bed had not yet been moved into the guest room.  We did sleep our first night in here the day after Mother's Day.  It's been a VERY busy week for us, moving furniture in, hooking up the computer and the TV and other electronics in the entertainment center.  Everything is coming together nicely, but we're still working on it.  He also got All the 12-volt emergency lights installed now that will run off the solar panels.  We're still filling up cabinets and cupboards and trying hard not to overdo physically.  It has been pretty hot out, but seems to stay a lot cooler in the new house.  Will get some photos soon.  The bed is in the guest room now, but there's still a lot of stuff to move.  We have been unpacking the boxes as we go along.  We had Mother's Day dinner in the house and made a brandied ham.  We also had broccoli cheese rice and scalloped potatoes courtesy of Shanna and Angie.  It was a great dinner and a wonderful Mother's Day gift too.

The water is all tied up now!

ADA-approved toilet installed

Whole-house water filter, pressure tank, and water heater

Everything works, and there are no leaks!  The water filter should help take the lime & calcium out of the water so that the water heater, etc. should last longer through the very hard water here in our area.
