5/20/2012 -- Moving In!
The house was ready to move into by Mother's Day. Yay! However, we did give up the king-sized bed to our oldest daughter and her two of our grandkids. The full-sized bed had not yet been moved into the guest room. We did sleep our first night in here the day after Mother's Day. It's been a VERY busy week for us, moving furniture in, hooking up the computer and the TV and other electronics in the entertainment center. Everything is coming together nicely, but we're still working on it. He also got All the 12-volt emergency lights installed now that will run off the solar panels. We're still filling up cabinets and cupboards and trying hard not to overdo physically. It has been pretty hot out, but seems to stay a lot cooler in the new house. Will get some photos soon. The bed is in the guest room now, but there's still a lot of stuff to move. We have been unpacking the boxes as we go along. We had Mother's Day dinner in the house and made a brandied ham. We also had broccoli cheese rice and scalloped potatoes courtesy of Shanna and Angie. It was a great dinner and a wonderful Mother's Day gift too.

Well, all the doors and base trim have been painted. Base trim installed. Door jams inside painted. Doors and doorknobs installed. Instead of one step at a time, seems like it's been leaps and bounds lately. There are still some plumbing that needs installed, the water heater, pressure tank, etc. That will have to wait till payday, but I think we may be living in the house by Mother's Day. We may not have everything moved, but we'll be living in it. Not too much longer now, anyway.

The floors are all rolled. He immediately covered a large portion of the living room floor, set up saw horses and then spent a lot of time painting case trim. All the doors are now installed with case trim around them all. The kitchen sink is now in the counter top. Every time I go in to look, something has changed. It looks more and more like "home" every time I walk in the door. He has done such a fantastic job of finishing it all out. The doors still have to be painted, then doorknobs installed, etc. The base trim still has to be painted too, but we are getting closer and closer every day. Some days, I just sit there and mentally arrange the furniture, deciding what will go where, what to keep, and what we might get rid of because we really have no need for it.
On the homesteading front, we now have three baby goats, two doelings and a little buck. The second doeling was born the day before Easter, and the little buck born on Easter Sunday.

He is going to rent the floor roller to roll all the tile with today. ALL the
tile is done now, all the floors are done! Now after he rolls the tile, it'll
be on to doors and trim. They have to be painted, of course, plus he still has
to install kitchen sink, toilet, water heater, and pressure tank. Closer &
closer every day!
The homestead is doing well too. We're up to 3 goat kids, with another doeling born Saturday and a little buck yesterday on Easter Sunday.

The underlayment is all down throughout the entire house. Any cracks have been filled, and the sanding is all done. The house has been swept and swept again. The room centers have been marked out, and the bedrooms were damp mopped. He is ready to start laying tile in the master bedroom today!
